Climate Nan's Caravan

Agency: Glimpse

Client: European Climate Foundation

Brief: How can we invite working class communities in areas at risk of severe climate impacts to have their voices heard and share their stories in a joyful and hopeful way

Imagine a world where... talking about climate change is like a nice natter with your nan.

Some conversations are more difficult than others - and public consultations are boring, right? For many, talking about climate change is un-engaging, blood-pressure-altering, or just plain depressing.

We wanted to change this. Enter, Climate Nan.

Nan is fed up with politicians and planners. She’s touring her caravan along the length and breadth of Britain, visiting areas that will be (or are already) experiencing the impacts of climate change; places like Ipswich, Doncaster, Stoke-on-Trent and Skegness, who are all in danger of catastrophic flooding, but residents feel too disconnected from the levers of power to be able to do anything about it.

As Climate Nan makes her way across the country, she’s collecting communities' hopes, fears and good ideas via bespoke postcards and recording conversations. She's delivering these messages in-person (or via her gigantic megaphone!) to press and politicians, so that future planning policy can reflect what local people really want.

Always happy to lend an ear and serve the T, Climate Nan wants to hear your climate solutions, your good ideas, and your opinions, hopes and fears. Because no one knows your local area like you do.

Most importantly, Climate Nan offers a friendly space to discuss what can often feel like a fraught political topic. And she'll give you a nice cup of tea to go with it.

Whilst Glimpse is in chrysalis mode myself and Nan are looking after bookings - HMU if you’d like Nan to visit YOUR town or festival..!
