LIKE FAT KID LOVE CAKE: hip hop inspired baketivism posters, by Beccy Mccray
Artist-Activist
My intersectional, climate- and nature-focused practice seeks to playfully break down boundaries between art, activism and everyday life. Using whatever media necessary, I create moments of joy and imaginative acts of resistance.
With deep experience in workshopping and co-creation, I collaborate with grassroots communities - from communidades in Brazil to youth groups and older people in the UK - alongside scientists, mystics and world-leading cultural institutions. People, place, and participation lie at the heart of this approach, which enables me to act as both curator and collaborator.
Through this socially engaged lens and process-driven research, I explore the intersections of folklore and popular culture, bringing people together through stories of interconnectedness with each other and the more-than-human world.
